Early Morning Preparations
My day as an HVAC technician at Staab & Sons, Inc. typically starts before sunrise. By 6:30 AM, I’m already checking my service schedule and loading up the truck with essential tools and replacement parts for the day ahead.
Morning Service Calls
The first stop today is in Bethel Park, where a homeowner reported their furnace making unusual noises. These early morning calls are common, especially during Pittsburgh’s chilly winters when heating systems work overtime.
Mid-Day Emergency Response
Around noon, I receive an urgent call from our dispatch – a family in West Mifflin needs immediate assistance with their AC unit. During summer months, these emergency cooling system repairs become our top priority, especially for households with elderly residents or young children.
Afternoon Maintenance
The afternoon schedule includes:
• Routine furnace maintenance in Carnegie
• AC system inspection in South Park
• Consultation for a furnace replacement in Pittsburgh’s South Hills
End of Day Wrap-Up
Before heading back to headquarters, I ensure all paperwork is complete and my truck is restocked for tomorrow. It’s satisfying knowing that I’ve helped keep local families comfortable in their homes, regardless of the weather outside.
The most rewarding part of working in HVAC service is solving problems and seeing the relief on customers’ faces when their systems are running smoothly again. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to help our Pittsburgh community stay comfortable year-round.
